Monochrome Chickadees

Bored at night with Mr Giggles

If this creeps outta my basement, I hope a bat is close by to knock it back down. This started as a practice in multiple exposure/light painting, that failed miserably, but its not over. And I will use Mr Giggles for a few more creepy pics

Bird day Saturday

I was burnt out from work all week, wanted to just hang out and take some pictures. The birds are plentiful around the feeder so I put up my burlap blind at the window and took a few pictures. Its unfortunate the 300mm lense I have is a soft lense, an aperture of f5.6 seems the sharpest point, but I managed to get a couple I am fairly happy with to show on my blog . Tomorrows another day

The chickadee swarm the feeder but don't stay still long, good practice

The Nuthatch, grabs seed from the feeder, finds a crack in wood to wedge the seed in and crack it open, these always do this upside down

Today is Aprils Birthday

Taken with a 300mm lenses, and fair away from the background to get a shallow depth of field

Is it summer yet??

I miss the summer time, miss being able to stand on the deck without a winter coat, miss camping the most

I prefer to camp were there is no one else, or at least no one close by. We have our favorite spot, right on a lake, and although the area seems to get busier each year we normally get lucky and find at least one of our spots open. I have taken more photos in this area than I can count, I cant wait to get back.

I took this image one night around the quiet campfire, time exposed to show the fire, background light provided by the lantren, and what better than a Canadian camp chair to sit on

One of our trips I had the fishing buddies sit around the fire for a time exposure, had some wood on the fire that was providing some excellent sparks, I knew I had to grab my camera and catch the moment. Again I used the lantren to provide some back light in this shot

Early morning the fog rises off the lake as the day warms makes for some great photo opportunity, I used the trees to frame the upper part of the shot to draw eyes to the main scene in the image. I can almost here the loon and smell the trees when I look at this image

Until summer I will wait to hear the frogs at night - our yearly sign that spring and warmer weather is here

Well I keep seeing more windows I want to take pics of, see below post March 4-11 of my new photo idea, have to have a goal to get the motivation going. Maybe tomorrow I have time to get to the ones I want to photograph, may have to ask permission from home owners at a couple locations

Foggy Day

Snow was melting with the rain and warmer temperatures, grabbed my camera and tried to shake off some of the cobwebs from not taking pictures the last few months. I missed the perfect time, the rain stopped, fog started to lift but was able to get a couple images

The bug guys side of me

I have always been fascinated with bugs, bugs of all kinds, what boy has not dropped bugs into a spider web to see it eat? I can still recall hanging at the trailer park as a kid and feeding the wolf spiders at night, catching fish flys that covered the side of the trailer on hot summer nights, and breaking the march of ants to see what they would do then. Now I have my own collection of bugs, here's just a couple

Tarantulas come in all color, sizes, and a animal that is perfected by evolution, it is important to refer to tarantulas with latin names as common names are plentiful, some species have 3-4 names making it confusing, I have included common names as well

Cyriocosmus Elegans - Triniada dwarf tiger rump

Grammastola pulchrips - Chaco Golden Knee

And possibly my favorite local bug, I mean it makes my day to find these during summer, and what a photo opportunity

Diapheromera femorata
Talk about camouflage, the stick insect, just awesome

I got it now

I have the hang of this, April is the web designer not me, but this is fairly basic once you get started. Speaking of web design, Freddys Photos will be updated and a new layout for the site as well, April is working on my new site as I write this, cant wait to see the final results.

if you go to "my complete profile" there is a link called my web page, this is the old site, the new one will have allot more pics, and a real sharp layout

Hmmm

New thing for me, trying to figure this out
